Magatte Wade is passionate about entrepreneurship and about creating high-end retail brands, based on diverse African traditions, that change the perception of Africa. She was born in Senegal, educated in France, and launched her entrepreneurial career in San Francisco. She is fluent in, and conducts business in, Wolof, French, and English. She is the founder and CEO of Tiossan, a high-end skin care products line based on indigenous Senegalese recipes and ingredients. Tiossanproducts are distributed via www.tiossan.com as well as through selected boutiques and (soon) a major national retail partner. At least ten percent of Tiossan profits are dedicated to the creation of innovative schools in Senegal, designed to developing the next generation of Senegalese genius.
Magatte writes for The Guardian, The Huffington Post, and Barron's and is a frequent speaker at business conferences and colleges, including Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Babson, etc. She was named a Young Global Leader by the Davos Global Economic Forum as well as one of the "20 Youngest Power Women in Africa" by Forbes in 2011. In 2014 she was featured on the cover of Forbes Afrique for being the person in Francophone Africa having the greatest positive impact on the future. She serves on the board of ASNAPP and the SEED Academy (Sports for Education and Economic Development), a private school in Senegal that prepares young people academically and athletically so that they can win NCAA basketball scholarships in the U.S.
Michael Strong is the co-founder and CEO of KhabeleStrong Incubator as well as the CEO and Chief Visionary Officer of FLOW and Radical Social Entrepreneurs. Prior to co-founding FLOW, he spent fifteen years as an educational entrepreneur, including creating a charter high school in rural New Mexico that was ranked the 36th best public high school in the U.S. on Newsweek¹s Challenge Index. He is the author of The Habit of Thought: From Socratic Seminars to Socratic Practice and is the lead author of Be the Solution: How Entrepreneurs and Conscious Capitalists Can Solve All the World¹s Problems, co-authored with John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods Market, Mohammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Hernando de Soto, co-chair of the U.N. Commission on the Legal Empowerment of the Poor, and others. Michael serves on the advisory boards of Peace through Commerce, The Lifeboat Foundation, Tri-Linc Global, and the Moorfield Storey Institute.
